E-6 Processing in New York City [LTI Ceases E-6 Line :(]

My favorite lab LTI said they no longer process E-6 as of yesterday. What a bummer. Their E-6 was as good as their C-41, which I feel is the best.

They recommended a place on w22nd St next to where Calumet was, called Vista + CRC.

I dropped off my roll of Astia there. The price may be slightly better than LTI at $8.06 per roll, cut and placed in a Print File, LTI I believe is $8 per roll with cutting + Print File extra.

I thought to check here for other recommendations or experiences with Vista + CRC.

Jesus at the front desk of Vista + CRC said they use Fuji chemistry, which I feel is best for E-6.

    Thanks for any info.

    Regards,
    SG

It turns out LTI wasn't getting enough E-6 volume to maintain their line effectively. Something to do with densitometer readings, according to an LTI owner I spoke to.

The roll of E-6 I took to Vista + CRC seems to be fine on cursory inspection.

All the very best labs stopped E6 when volume become too low to maintain good plots. The big Refrema machines need constant film to stay in line specifically with E6- Kodak or Fuji.
Unfortunately this trend of high quality labs dropping the service will continue until all E6 will be done Mail Order by one or two labs in NA, most likely in areas of low rent.

Toronto had three first rate labs for E6, Colourgenics, Steichanlab and Toronto Image Works, they all took pride in their plots and once their lines became dicey they bailed to keep their good names intact.

Was the film flat and dust free from Vista?

It seemed fine, but I don't think their reputation is on par with LTI.

There's always the West Coast if you need to ship your chromes anyway.

To give you an international perspective, I used Vista + CRC on a trip to the East Coast of the States in 2013. Their service was excellent and the processing as good or better than what I have encountered here in Australia or elsewhere in my travels.

I find Praus (as another has said) to be excellent with great prices on E-6 in sheet film sizes.

ALL pro labs use Fuji chemistry because Kodak stopped making E-6 chemistry last year.

I just sent off 10 sheets of 8x10 E-6 and 36 sheets of 4x5 E-6 to Praus TODAY.

    I trust him, excellent.

For 35mm slides and 120 I still use the infamous Dwayne's Photo for their excellent "process only" prices.

There is also AGX Imaging in Michigan. I sent some film to them a few years ago when I was looking for a top-tier E6 lab, and my film came back perfect(as it should be !)

website is still active, but their price list is almost "too good to be true"(but sometimes it actually is true!)
