So it goes on the back of the shutter first, before the black rings?

Again thanks for taking the time to answer. I'm always very nervous about lens mounting.

This is an interesting case. I'm planning on mounting the comfort board into a recessed Kardan->Technika adapter board.

It goes between the back of the shutter and the from of the board.

Right, so is the order: back of shutter, thin silver ring, black rings, front of board?

Just put the black rings on first then the silver. It isn't critical. Just do it.

Now I'm confused. I don't understand the placement of the silver ring.

It goes between the shutter and the board.

Thanks for helping a customer, Bob.

I am dearly tempted to get a comfort board to use with the 135mm Planar. Would the board change the infinity stop?

Not if you lens is already in a recessed board.

Re comfort board/lens assembly - thought I'd post this (from the factory) to clarify for anyone interested.

Hello and sorry for reviving an old thread. I am mounting an 80mm Super Symmar XL on the Comfort Board. I have figured out the order of the parts, no problem. However, I am still struggling. The lens includes one tiny protruding screw in the space where the silver ring would logically fit (from what Bob wrote above, it would seem that I should not be using the silver ring, though - right?). Now, the problem with the protruding screw is that it seems to be keeping some distance between the lens and the board, perhaps to allow the aperture lever to move freely. If I tighten the retaining ring just enough for the extended levers to move freely, then the extended (black) lever that closes/opens the shutter keeps slipping out of its place on the lens. If, on the other hand, I tighten the retaining ring very firmly, I can't operate the levers. I even tried to remove that little screw from the lens but then I could not move the aperture lever at all, once I tightened the retaining ring. So, what am I doing wrong? Is the trick just to tighten the retaining ring enough but not too much? I am even considering using a bit of a thin double sided sticky tape just to keep that lever in place, but I don't think that is the way Linhof intended.
    Take the screw out.
