Moderately priced monitor - how's the Dell U2715H?

Specs seem similar (and better) to the Apple but for much less money.
Anyone using one of these Dell U2715H monitors? Or maybe other suggestions in the $500ish price range?

    Nobody spoke up?

I want a 4K monitor at this point in time, not the low res Dell.

I also suggest waiting just a little more, as 4K/5K/6K/8K is just hitting the consumer.

I currently use 2 matching ASUS 23" Pro Art screens which still work well after 3 years. They were very affordable and impressive, but don't buy them now.

Educate me. So.............what is 4k going to give me exactly that I actually need? I have no problems processing files accurately for prints and magazine reproduction now with a similar "low res Dell".
    Thanks,

You have to see the difference to be sold on 4K. It is a vast improvement. Go to an Apple Store, not to buy their overpriced gear, but to see a 5K screen. Bring a USB drive with your image to view.

For an all-purpose monitor, the Dell is hard to beat. I haven't looked hard at their photo-specific monitors, but I've had very consistent quality with their monitors, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
As long as it can be reasonably well-calibrated, any decent monitor will do.

I've got a dell 2.5k 27" (older version of this) and the newer 4k dell P2715Q which is about the same price as the one above. The 4k makes a big difference in evaluating sharpness and seeing other faults. If you're upgrading from 1080 to 2.5k, it's a big step, but so is the step to 4k. Given prices are pretty even, I'd go for the 4k, but they will both be good monitors.

I'll run this off a MacBookPro that probably won't adequately run a 4K monitor and I'm not looking for the latest ultimate monitor, just a solid monitor at a decent price.

depending on which iteration of the macbook pro, it could definitely drive a 4k monitor.

AFAIK, mine will only do 30 hz refresh at 4K. That worries me.
