Ilford HP5+ for all my formats: 4x5, 120, and 35mm.

I love what the film gives me in tonality, lack of grain and the overall look. I also shoot Bergger 200 in 8 x 20 and 14 x 17 which gives me the old look I am after.
It is a challenge for me in the forest when my exposures can be 1/2 an hour or more but man the carbon contact prints from the neg's when I get it right are the best. Also, for portraits the slow speed helps. I also love the FP 4+ that I have as well.

    Hi Jim,

Where can I get some Bergger 200 and Efke 25 film? Or, is it all gone? thanks

It's all long gone you'd have to get it from those of us who still have stocks. I think I have around 3 or 4 boxes of Fortepan 200 (sold as Berger 200) in 10x8 I never used it in smaller sizes, it's a direct descendant of Kodak Double X made in Hungary just before WWII at the Kodak Ltd plant.

As it hasn't been mentioned, Fomapan 100, 200 and 400 [4x5] . Its a great cheap film, cubic grain etc. I've found it to be quite forgiving for exposure and dev times. The emulsion is stupidly soft post processing though, so it has to be handled with great care until it drys. Otherwise, I'm another Ilford fan (HP 5+ for 400). I'm surprised no one's mentioned Delta 100, as its a great film, which I prefer to FP4+ (It has a nicer grain imo).

Well yes, Efke and Bergger are long gone. This is why I have a freezer in my garage. I have Bergger 200 in 8 x 20 and 14 x 17. Long expired but man is it good!

FP4+ for everything in the latest times.
Although I feel a need for some 400 ASA film. Still debating which one; used to love APX400, but don`t know if someone still makes it (or a similar one). Maybe I`ll buy HP5, one day...

I guess I'm not very picky when it comes to film, especially b&w. Everything I have tried so far has worked out well enough given enough practise.

    6*4.5: HP5+
4*5: main fare: FP4+, but also Efke IR and HP5+, slowly finishing Fomapan100 for certain applications.
    8*10: HP5+

    best,

    Tri-X 4x5 and 8x10. I rate the 4x5 @ ISO 160 and the 8x10 @ ISO 100. Works for me.
