    Viewlex Inc Type I 6 in f/6.3

This lens has a center filter (yellow) and consists of 2 parts that appear to be the same.
    Looks like a topogon design.
    it has no aperture.
I am trying to mount it on a Linhof Kardan boardto use on 5x7 and need some machining to be done so as to keep the mounting distance correct by using the original mount. I think some kind of shutter was fitted between the elements originally.
Anyone used/seen one of these old aero wide angles. I got this many years ago.

That is the twin of a Bausch & Lomb Metrogon....yours is made by Viewlex under Mil Spec contract.
There is a lot of info about them here on LFPF, if you do a search for 'Metrogon'.
I'm working on a project with some in the works right now,
looking for a red center filter.
    Yes, it's a Topogon design.
There's not much room for an aperture and/or shutter between the elements. Cell spacing is pretty critical.
Tim Sharkey (lensn2shutter) has a website dealing with Metrogons.

    Thanks, great website.

I was thinking of building a drop shutter or guillotine with waterhouse stops to get around 1/30sec exposure.

I do have a 165SA f/8 for backup as soon as I fix the Compur Electronic #3. It only needed the contacts cleaning and I foolishly unscrew the contacts that fell inside so I have to dismantle the shutter to fix. I do have an exploded diagram of the shutter. Interestingly Tim Sharkey did not mention Compur Electronic shutters from the 1960's. I have several lenses in Compur Electronic #1 and #3 that work fine so long as the contacts on the shutter and battery container are kept clean.
