View in the Diablo Range California.

I shot this some time back hand-held with a Pentax K1000 but didn't didn't think much of it because of the camera motion and/or the slightly out-of-focus look. I ran across it again this evening after admiring a An October Day in the White Mountains, 1854 - an oil on canvas painting by John Fredrick Kensett and changed my opinion of it.

With the Pictorialist notion that composition is king, and with a nod to Georgia Okeefe, this shot:

Thanks pal! Some more just now, variety of lenses. These are so beautiful this time of year it hurts. Knowing that in 1 month it will be 110 degrees and a furnace like blast when you open the door, makes it all the more bittersweet.

In the "sharp and soft but not particularly prickly" vein, my contribution.

After a 16 month hiatus (short answer: Cancer sucks! Long answer: Cancer really really sucks, and chemo is a pain!), I'm able to shoot with my Ebony again, so I took the Imagon and a 135 Symmar to the Arizona Cactus Garden here on the Stanford Campus and shot four sheets. First, the two with the Imagon (both with the 7.7/9.5 disk at H7.7):

And the two with the 135 Symmar-S, first at f/22, second at f/45. Everything on Delta 100:

    Drew,
Sorry that you have cancer. Lord have mercy!

I enjoy this thread and moved to TX over a year ago and even have cacti in my yard, but haven’t pointed a LF camera at them yet!

I especially like the ?yucca? picture. I like the sense of movement and the contrast/value range. I suspect that b/w is part of the key to it, in color the dried out tips would be too distracting.
