Tuco, John: non-photographic, but related to Tuco's photo. When I built wheels in the pre-carbon fiber days (i.e. 32- or 36-hole aluminum rims) we always bought threaded spokes (usually double-butted). Is threading spokes yourself something new because now you need more different lengths? Tuco has posted a number of bicycle-related photos, I assume you ride a lot?

I can't say if it's a new thing or not. But I'm building an old-school type wheelset. Aluminum low profile rims with silver colored spokes. Yes you can order spokes. But today there are lots of sizes and the majority are black spokes and rims. And right now there is a shortage of bike frames and parts.

So my approach is to just stock 315mm blank spokes and not worry about what size I need. Once I measure a rim's effective diameter, I would take the blank spokes to a nearby bike store where they have a really nice, professional spoke cutter and threading machine to cut and thread them to any size that day. It's a lot faster than waiting via mail order especially if you have to order from more than one store to get your weird sizes. I purchased the threading tool in the picture just to give it a try myself.

Old horse drawn seed drill and a tree stump. Fomapan 400 4x5, first one exposed at 100 and developed normal, second exposed 300 and pushed 1 stop in developement. Graflex Speed Graphic Pacemaker, Fujinon 1:5.6/180 Developed in Cinestill DF96, scanned on Epson V600 (in 2 pieces and stitched together as the scanner can only do 6 cm width).

I'm just beginning with large format, shot about 20 pictures in all so far so still very much learning the basics. Seems I need to overexpose 1-2 stops to get decent density at least in CF96, will be trying Pyrocat next.
