    Intrepid, S-K Symmar-S 150/5.6, f/22 @4min on Fomapan 100, developed in PyrocatHD 1+1+100 for 12min.

I was stuck for a day in our holiday cabin during storm Arwen, so decided to take a closer look at the Foma 100 reciprocity; this metered as 30s @ ISO100, so I took one shot at 2min (+2 stops) and one at 4min (+3 stops); the 2min exposure was about 1/2 stop too thin, though usable, but the 4min was bang on.

It turned out well. I have a screen shot of a Fomapan 100 reciprocity chart I found when I went looking for one (don't know the source off-hand). And it is showing ~350 seconds for a metered 30 second exposure. And it's also showing double the exposure at a metered one-second exposure. That's more than most the films I've used I think.

It's known to be quite bad for reciprocity, the official data sheet says no compensation up to 1/2s, 1 stop for 1s, 3 stops for 10s and 4 stops for 100s, but that seems a rather odd shaped curve to me. I found in the past that no compensation for 1s exposure is needed, so I don't bother until it comes to B on the shutter, that makes it easy to remember.

Deardorfusers, your lovely model is at her best in this; there's only one other portrait of her I like as much. Beautifully done.

I've only viewed the first 16 pages or so, but I'm interested in knowing is there anyone here harding the film in the developing stage?

If so, please describe your material and method, please.

    development stage?

Do you mean hardening the film during development? I use PMK pyro which is a tanning developer which does harden the emulsion somewhat during development. Just about any pyro developer will do that. No hardening treatment will render a negative scratch proof especially when it's wet. I've shot hundreds of rolls and sheets of Fomapan (and EDU Ultra) with nary a mishap that wasn't caused by rough treatment by me. Under normal handling you are not likely to scratch it.

I quickly discovered that Foma sheets are cut in such a manner that the corners that noticeably sharper than Kodak or Ilford films, so you have to be especially careful if you shuffle processing in a tray. And if you do get a scratch, it's a lot more likely to go deeper into the emulsion. There's not any overcoat it seems.

    Re: Fomapan 100, 200 and 400

    Hello dears,

I need suggestions on developing time with D76 for Fomapan200 and Fomapan400 at box speed.
Based on calculus I made from my HC110 experience, I got the following for D76 1+1:
    - Foma200, 9' at 20°
    - Foma400, 12' at 20°

How do they sound to you?

    Thank you
Pressing the shutter is the only easy thing
