Why does this (TOYO 8×10 MⅡ) knob have no locking effect. Whether locked or released, the front standard can be bent forward?

I noticed that the board was installed upside down. What's the reason?
The front standard was rotated about its axis to provide added extension.

Contact MAC Group in NY, and ask to speak to someone who knows the view cameras.
They will help with the parts, or you can send them your standard for repair.

Bob, the easiest way is to get a Toyo/Linhof Technika adapter board on eBay and then mount each lens on the smaller Technika boards.

    Ali: thanks!
But mine is a second-generation product. I noticed that yours is a first-generation product, so is the function of this big knob different. I asked several friends who use second-generation products, and they also asked the same question---The front standard can pitch forward (but not backward) whether the knob is locked or not.So I think this may be a design defect of the second generation products, but I don't know why they design like this

I don't remember the 810M perfectly, but I do recall that there were only two differences between the 810M and 810M II: the color of the knobs, and the M II has the ability to reverse its front standard for extra extension. The point of this thread, originally, was to show how to convert an 810M into an MII by ordering a $10 part from MAC Group.

If memory serves, the knob on your front standard is to tighten the standard when it's been tilted. The lever under the knob releases a catch, allowing you to tilt. Once tilted, you lock it with the knob.

This is wrong. Front standard can tilt forward 90˚ and back 15˚.
Either some part of the camera's operation is confusing you, or you have a defective front standard.
I would send in the front standard for a tune-up and/or repair.

    Re: Toyo 810M Resource/Fan Page

As a new owner of 810MII which has some imperfections and needs some attention I carefully read through the forum and especially this thread to get some very useful information, so firstly I thank you all contributors for your effort!

And then I have some question:

1.The Toyo has typical problem with deteriorated bellows and these must be replaced. I tried to search and there seems to be a difference between the bellows for 810M and 810MII - is that possible? I found one on the E-tone website but they say it is not for the second generation. From the picture it seems the replacement bellows offered (for 810M only apparently) have a lower number of folds. Could this be because MII has a reversible front standard? I would like to keep the ability to use the whole extension of MII.

    2. Is there a way to get replacement parts in Europe? I would replace the round cover of one knob. And one securing clamp for the focusing rod is broken and needs to be replaced - this apparently involves the replacement of the whole upper half of a sliding casing of a focusing rod.

    3. Focusing screen has a plastic clear foil on it from the back. I think it was protection foil from the manufacturer and the previous owner did not remove it when he bought that camera - am I right? It is getting curly and except for some role in protection of glass I do not know its purpose.

Sorry if my questions are repetitive, I tried to find them but sometimes answers were not as specific or sometimes I doubt the situation is the same after time from the post was originally posted.

Apart these imperfection I am amazed how rigid and easy to operate the camera is. And the lifting mechanism of groundglass frame is genial compared some wooden field cameras.

All your help would be invaluable for me and highly appreciated!
