Tonight's the night for northern California: good observing conditions which will deteriorate tomorrow night due to an approaching system. I'm going to take the 16x70 Fujinon's, the Parallagram mount (http://www.telescope.com/catalog/pro...FYpcfgodeDIAyA, sky chart and chair.

Please let us know. My Swiss friend whom I contacted (he's living on high mountains) could not see anything even with good binoculars.

Well it's no Hale Bopp but I managed to find it last night a little west of the star Wazn in the constellation Columbia. Very faint in 7x50 binoculars and, IMO, definetly not viable from a urban setting. I was at a "reasonable" dark sky location at an elevation of about 3000 ft in HenryCoe state park. Will try again in January when the comet will be brighter. I would estimate it at magnitude 7 last night.
