Looking for Compendium lens shade for Chamonix 8x10

So I don't have a lens shade for my Chamonix 8x10.

My 4x5 Toyo45a had a special detachable lens compendium that was very handy, but I was wondering what is out there for a camera that doesn't have an attachment piece like my Chamonix 8x10.

    Thanks for your help!

You could adapt one to your camera. See Arca-Swiss for an example.

A much less expensive route would be to reverse a deeply recessed lens board (really an extended lens board) and drill the holes on top necessary to hold the extension rod.

    Bejesus!!!! $200+!!?? That's insane!

I honestly don't get why Chamonix didn't include a few obvious features, the cameras are top notch except for these really odd missing things, no way to attach a compendium, no cold shoe, no stop system to prevent over-closing the camera.

    Sigh...

The "cold shoe" that comes on the 45n-1 and 2 isn't made to the same specs as a regular cold shoe. Their levels fit snug but flash mounts don't. If you really want one, email hugo and he'll have one shipped to you with screws in a couple weeks. Better yet, buy a scrap 35mm at the thrift store, take apart the hot shoe, attach it to your camera with whttp://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2014309120129ood screws, stop whining.

Close the camera only as far as you need or make some blocks like Dan did.

A compendium hood is heavy. I thought you don't want heavy?
CHeck the price on an arca swiss, sinar, hassy, they Buy a lee style filter holder with hood, buy a generic one off ebay. Done

I have a pile of these for mounting all kinds of crap to my Cine camera: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Hot_Shoe.html

By the by... pics that Hugo sent me of the 4x10 show a Cold Shoe over the front standard (where there is a bubble level installed).

or I wonder if you could get this bit from Hugo and retrofit... not that a Cold Shoe resolves how to mount a compendium.

Thanks guys, problem is the area where a hot shoe would be, is where the Velcro strap is that holds the camera closed as well as is used to keep tension on the bellows to keep them from sagging so I would have to add it off center next to that Velcro, I've been looking and there's the ebony lens shade clip which means it could use the cold shoe to attach and swivel it around even if it's a bit off center, I just hate to ruin the wood ya know? The camera is just so beautiful I'm afraid to mess it up. I'm still using it in the same conditions as always I just mean that there's such precision I hope I can match it!

I only need the hot shoe for either a pocket wizard flash trigger, or the lens shade attachment and evony all weather focusing cloth I was thinking of getting. Don't need it for an actual flash.

Can't you install the cold shoe over he velcro? Hell, install one on each side.
If you can afford anything with the EBONY logo, you can afford a lee hood.
Get a manfrotto double ended clamp thingy sold from b&h for about $15, pad the jaws with soft velcro, clip than onto the front standard. It's no substitute for a compendium but it'll keep sun of the glass.

I'm in bed so I won't go down to get out the camera and set it up to take a picture but you can't just install it over the Velcro.

You should say if I could afford a Chamonix I could afford the compendium by Lee, but it looks bulky, I think the ebony cover will cover two issues, protecting the camera and lens shade and dark cloth, which really makes it cheaper to buy an ebony.
