I wonder if anyone could suggest alternatives to the Mod 54 insert for the Patterson tank for processing 4x5 negatives? I can't afford to buy that and the large tank needed for it. It also needs to be available in the UK preferably.
Thanks

I am assuming you are asking because you need something that can be used with lights on? Otherwise nothing is any cheaper or more effective for the price than simple trays.

Oh sorry I forgot to mention I can only use something with the lights on and that I can load in a dark bag.
The Mod54 and Paterson tank is worth the investment. I've been using mine for 3 years now and it still looks and works like new. No reason why it shouldn't last a lifetime. Doesn't get much less expensive than that.

I used Simma print tubes for the longest time until I went Jobo. Dirt cheap and can use tight rocking roller base if you need. Four sheets of 4x5 per tube (8x10 print tube)
notch codes ? I only use one film...
If you haven't heard of Taco Method for developing 4x5 then I would recommend searching for it here and on Google. I use this method regularly and am happy with the results so far.
