Beseler Drum and Motor for 4x5

Have an opportunity to buy a Beseler base and 8x10 printing drum at a good price and I wanted to make sure it's a good choice for 4x5 B&W or color transparency developing. From what I've read it is, but most of the websites talk about a Unicolor Uniroller and I wanted to double check. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know Unicolor was just one of the names used by the Beseler company, so they are the same thing with a different name.

Just make sure the drum has the ridges inside to hold 4x5.

I have both and the Unicolor turns at a slower speed. This I like!

I post some results here http://www.largeformatphotography.in...=1#post1082334
This is with a 3005 (8x10) but it will give some cues about the differents brands of motor bases.

The Unicolor drums and motorized roller base are not from Beseler. They were produced by Photo Systems, Inc. of Dexter, Mich. If you look at photos of these items you will see that they are somewhat similar looking but different in design. They are "not" the same thing with a different name. Howard Tanger
