    You could saturate this with marine epoxy and it would outlast the bricks his school was built from, and probably be more dimensionally stable

    But it would weigh so much the cardboard tripod might collapse....

    Won't a cardboard bellows tend to shed dust?

    I love the "bag" bellows. I don't think the bellows is any more likely to shed dust than older "leatherette" bellows.
