    Agree but for total brain dead ease of use for tracking expenses I use NeatReceipts. Couldn't be easier.

    I don't know if quicken is around anymore, but if you are working out of a single account and not invoicing it is all you would need. It categorizes everything and is pretty idiot proof and looks just like your checkbook ledger. It has all kind of reports to make tax time easy. I've been happy with it, but it's all I've ever used besides quick books so I can't compare.

    reading this makes me old fashioned. Im using a physical notebook and im on the 27th page with a + and - on = on the side. lol

    When I was in a small business twenty years ago, I setup and used Peachtree Accounting now called Sage. Worked very well then. Can't tell you how Sage works today but you might want to check it out.

    Quickbooks is fine if you have a professional bookkeeper set it up properly initially.

    I've also used Wave for an online alternative.

    I've been using Freshbooks, and have a subscription which is roughly $50 per month. It gets the job done for me. You may want to look into it.
