    Developers dedicated to LF

There use to be many developers available for LF film / plate developing. Kodak D 19, Gevaert G.201 are known for their brilliance, G.215 for the softness and its ability to compensate for harsh light by strobes, etc. They are all quite fast working which was beneficial when tray developing was the norm. They are not of the fine grain type but that shouldn't be priority when shooting LF. Are there other benefits compared to more refined formulae used today? Are there any users of these dedicated developers among us willing to share their experience?

I use D 76 with replenisher. The batch I have now is about 3 years old and makes beautiful negatives.
