Hello Everyone

Happy new year to all....
I just started my new year with a mysterious lens find. I picked it up from the local second hand photostore... it reads

H. Duplouich Opticien Paris Anastigmat Dissymétrique Lucidior Serie II F3,8 260 mm nr #3417
I checked and it covers 8x10 full open
If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated

I have exactly the same lens, in a more recognisable projection mount.
It is still waiting for a try out but I am surprised it covers 8x10.
I remember it as a periscope design, but was packed away last time I had a "tidy-up" excercise in progress.
No iris on mine, of course.
There are some hits with "Duplouich" on the search function.

Interesting you have the same lens and indeed the optician also provided lenses for early cinema. This one has an iris with markings 3,8 5,6 8 11,3 16 22,6 32 45,2

I think it must be a lens from around 1904-5 and think it was used on a 18x24 folding camera... as i am deducting from this commercial i found of the time here on the forum.

I just double checked and it does cover 8x10 ... i will have to have it mounted on a board (there is no retaining ring) to make a picture with it. It will take some time as handyman making retaining rings are hard to find around here

This is true everywhere!

I have quite a number of 18x24cm French/German cameras from this period - they suit my needs very well.

But Berthiot claims that theirs covers only 35 degrees, much less than Duplouich's 75 degrees. When was your Duplouich catalog printed?

Well this is a surprise!

My 260mm matches well with the second list and it is engraved series II.
The mount, which I assumed was projection, could be early ciné - as mentioned in the above.

Just a small correction and an addition.

My 260mm corresponds to the last lens in the first list, that is F3.8 and lens diameter 68.5mm.
The structure is exacly what is shown in the lens X section. Apart from the fact that the penultimate screw-in rear lens is gone. Which is why I thought it was a periscope!

Thank you so much for this information ...I guess i found the 265 mm f 3,5 for a 18x24 camera so my initial hunch was right.
I must say fo 100 euros i am lucky having this lens.
I will go and proceed and have it mounted on a board so i can make some pictures with it
My intention is to use the lens for wet collodium.
more to be followed.
