A tiny brass Aldis (10" more or less) and it covers 8x10. All for $12.

Same thing with a top-notch Sironar Macro-N 210mm - about the same focal length.

Why switch lenses? Also, this one seems more... Purple toned, just very very slight.

Christopher, great images, both. I like the first one for the point of view and perspective, and for me the tones are more inviting.

I wanted a frozen effect, but with more compositional control. I've done something similar in 35mm using a zoom lens, but I wanted to try it with sheet film. I probably spent a year mulling over how to do it with the limitations of a large format camera (shallow depth of field, fixed focus lenses)

It took over a month to build and lay out the set (lots of small technical hurdles along the way) but I'm very happy with the final result. It worked out better than the original concept shot on 35mm film.

Impeccable, as always sir Ken. I enjoyed a tour through your stills at your site earlier today.

Call it a personal peccadillo, but I love when fine art intersects with such mundane realities as a little night-time indigestion.
