Bryan; you're getting some great photos there!

Some abstract stuff at Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse:

Some light, shape, texture at our rustic camp on Alford Lake in Hope Maine. I haven't really figured out how to photograph this place as well as the coast in B&W, but I'll figure it out eventually through trying.

    Thanks jp.
I like the somewhat "Americana" feel of the second image.

chassis, the low contrast works well there. The ocean blends with the sky.

Yesterday I drove up into the mountains on a whim and went to a small state park (Vogel) and hiked around Lake Trahlyta. On the north end of it there is a water treatment plant, and they apparently dump treated water back into Wolf Creek. The path this water takes has cut an unnatural ravine into the ground below the hiking trail which I thought was interesting, and the light was very nice:

It's common in many cultures to place images on gravestones and the like, from when the Romans used to do it to the modern day. It's a way for the loved ones to remember the deceased and to put a face to a grave. Not strange or creepy at all.

I'm liking the first one, especially. If I could get you to entertain a newbie question, though: what movements (if any) did you use? I could see trying to use swing on the far face of the gully and downed tree, but would worry that the upright trunk of the tree in the foreground wouldn't be sharp toward the top of the frame.

    Thanks chassis.

duff, some kind of representation is one thing, but an actual photograph is a bit different, and a little strange to see, in my eyes.

CB - no movements on that image. It was stopped down to f/16 and a half or so. I was pleasantly surprised the bottom left was in sharp focus too, so there's a small chance the lens was very slightly tilted forward - the Century Graphic tilt lock doesn't tighten down all that well. I modified my 2x3 Centuries to have front tilt instead of rear tilt as they are designed to do (to correct for the drop bed angle) as I never use the drop bed - it's only needed for wides but I use my 38mm XL on a dedicated camera. Of course carry two Century Graphics is still lighter than carrying one Pentax 67 . And the Pentax can't shoot at 38mm or 6x9...

And since I'm here, here's an image I shot last weekend that I really like and might print. An image in the salt marshes at the Wormsloe Historic Site near Savannah, taken with that Century and 38mm camera:

Thanks! I was eyeing the lower left corner myself and wondering if you were mostly relying on DOF.

At any rate, a nice composition from Wormsloe--you manage to get great "depth" in the frame, while my efforts to date tend toward the planar...tougher than it looks in these untidy surroundings, "movements" or no!
