Is there such a thing as a metal septum to convert whole plate holders to film holders ?
I have beenin LF since the 40's and I have never seen one for whole plate. The most likely location would be in Europe.
There were film holder inserts made but so far I've not seen/found any larger than 5x4. I bought some sheet metal to make some almost a year ago but haven't got around to it (no workshop space as I've sold my own house). I could use hafl plate and whole (full) plate adapters.

Wasn't there 2 whole plate to 5x7 film converters recently on eBay?
I lost track of them.
I have seen them for 6.5" x 8.5" (is that 'whole plate'?) and 8x10. Sent a couple NOS (or at least never used) 6.5 x 8.5 to a friend not long ago.
PS -- the 'converters' I have many of.
13*18 and 18*24cm do occasionally turn up hereabouts, but I've never seen any outside the German film size series. Given the time line of photographic materials, I suspect that most original holders on still used WP cameras had already been replaced or converted to 18*24cm before the conversion from plates to film, so sheaths for the older sizes will be rare indeed.
I've seen metal septum's for 4x5, 5x7 that go into wood inserts, possibly 8x10, for 8x10 plate holders
but i've never looked for those. Whole plate 6.5x8.5 seems non existent from my searches on the intarwebs.
I meant whole plate glass holders to whole plate cut /sheet film in whole plate holders.Originally Posted by Randy Moe
I have full plate sheaths - not many though.
I've got a couple, but can't spare a square. I also have some wholeplate to 5x7 ones. They require a thin wood adapter.

I have two different types of Eastman Whole Plate septums, one with ribs and one without. Have been thinking of seeing if a local metal working shop can reproduce the non-ribbed ones as I could use at least half a dozen of them
