Does anyone recognize this screen?

I have an extra-bright Sinar 4x5 focusing screen that I've always understood to be from Bill Maxwell. Another forum member has told me that he doesn't think it's a Maxwell screen because all of Bill Maxwell's large format screens are made entirely of plastic, and this one is glass with a thin plastic secondary layer.

Does anyone recognize this screen?

I'd need to check but my Wista screen looks similar, it's a combo screen/fresnel with the grid lines on the cack an a thin plastic protector.

Second thoughts after checking the Wista it's not similar, I had a Cambo camera and also a rotating Cmbo back and they used plain GG screens with a plastic fresnel overlay and they were as bright as my Wista

There was a European (probably Dutch or Belgian) maker with sandwiched screens that had a wax layer in between. Haven't got mine any more (a studio lamp too close to the camera killed it - apparently a common issue), but it had a similar grid pattern with marks for a Sinar Zoom holder (however, IIRC no circle at the centre position).

Dutch, the Boss screen. They were camera brand specific in order to place the parrafin layer on the film plane.

I don't think it could be a Bosscreen, as it functions properly and is nice and bright without any wax between the glass and plastic pieces.

Can a Bosscreen be used without the paraffin layer?

Is it true that all of Bill Maxwell's large format screens of the last twenty years were made entirely of plastic? I ask because it was on a Sinar that was purchased new in 1992.

No, both panes would be transparent. And Bosscreens had the main glass pane to the rear - the plastics (acrylic?) one was facing the lens.

No, the parrafin is what formed the image.

This focusing screen is glass with the grid and other markings on the back, with a slightly thinner plastic Fresnel behind it. Kind of like a Canham focusing screen, except that both pieces are plastic with a Canham screen.
