Chamonix 8x10, wide lens & 4x10 mask configuration

Is there anyone out there using this setup?
I'd like to know if the Chamonix 8x10 can be configured to allow a wide angle lens (e.g. 90mm) focused to infinity on the upper half of the 8x10 frame. If it does, how stable/useable is the camera in this position? I'm assuming a bag bellows would be used.

    Thanks
    /Frank...

Are there any 90mm lenses that cover 4x10? Maybe a 90mm Super Angulon XL would come close. I have a 120mm Nikkor SW and it will definitely cover 4x10. It's fine on the 8x10 Chamonix, but you'd need a bag bellows if you want to use that much front rise or fall. The Chamonix is very stable and usable with short lenses. The 120mm is insanely wide on 8x10, it's very much a specialty lens--are you sure you need to go wider than that?

Ditto on the 120 Nikkor. I love it. Covers 8x10 so 4x10 would allow more movement. Don't see any stability issue on the Chamonix.

Keith Canham made what must have been a very small number of 4x10 box cameras with helical-mounted 90 SA-XL. The only one I've ever seen was offered for sale second-hand a few years ago by Camera West.

The 90 SA-XL is specified for a circle of 259mm at infinity and f/22. I've tried it on WP indoors - so with a bit of focus extension - and it was fine, though it really needed a center filter.

I didn't see where Frank asked about lens coverage, did he?
You might want to use the bag bellows to ease movements but the standard bellows will allow a 90 to focus (I was told by hugo zhang).

I'd love to see some 4x10 images shot with a 90mm lens--anyone have some to post? Vinny--The OP mentions wide angle lenses , e.g./for example 90mm, so I don't see how 4x10 coverage is off-topic. Hugo is the man when it comes to Chamonix, but a 2" rise with a 90mm and the standard bellows? I'll have to check with my camera, but I'm skeptical.

I bought the 4x10 back and the bag bellows for my 8x10.. Not that expensive and a great setup.

    Thanks Folks,
Correct Vinny, I wasn't asking about the lens coverage, and the issue isn't if the 90 XL can focus to infinity in the middle of the 8x10 frame. I'm sure it can on the Chamonix. I just wanted to know if it's possible to get the lens to sit in the middle of the 'upper' 4x10 frame, comfortably. I'm not using 4x10 backs or film holders - just regular 8x10. I can do it on my current camera but it makes for a less rigid setup. I was wondering how it would be on the Chamonix 8x10. Hugo has said that it can be done but I was hoping someone could give me some advise based on their experience.
    Cheers.

I'd ask evan clarke as he's probably got a 90 to try it with. Actually you don't need a lens, just a lens board with a hole in it since the bag bellows allow full rise regardless.
