this (http://www.fotoklub-walsrode.de/luxikon) is an old 5x7 wooden studio camera which has to bars (one is missing) on the front side that can be swung in and out.
You can see it in the first picture.
Does anybody know what they are for?

I think their for holding up your dark cloth over the lens for a lens shade, looks like one broke off.
Hmm why won't the seller let us see the other side of the camera? From the placing of that bar it seems one of the pics is reversed.

I don't want to sell the camera. Reversal was not intended to hide something.

That internal shutter is rather interesting, and I think that maybe a bellows lens hood/shade ran on those rails at the front. It looks like it was well designed and those features are original, I assume that knob on the top standard is for front rise.
That's a great camera.
