Re: Adobe is going to only sell subscription based Photoshop

I've been without Photoshop for two years since my old Power Mac G5 got replaced with a MB Air (long story). Aperture covers 95% of my needs, and Pixelmator 4.9%. If I had my druthers it'd be PS but I don't miss it that much (nor the cost). For what it's worth, Pixelmator will save files on iCloud, and I learned to have Aperture use referenced files on Dropbox. Kind of nice for my needs, and Preview can resize files and do basic adjustments. I never use iPhoto.

The "photos in the cloud" space is extremely crowded right now. I'm not sure what makes them think they can get away with $6 / month. Dropbox, iCloud and Google provide essentially the same functionality for free. I guess time will tell if anyone bites.

The obvious solution would be to include Revel in the Creative Cloud... it's very strange that it's not.

Randy, your answer might be interpreted as personal attack - you may want to use a few words more to explain your point.

    OK.

I meant 'stupid' in reference to Adobe trying to sell $6 a month photo storage to existing CS monthly subscribers.

I figured Ben, being the hip guy he is, would understand my reference was not meant for him!

Thanks Matus, many words and emotions are misconstrued on the Internet.

I got what Randy was saying—and I agree, it's stupid!

I think the door is opening........Corel is now offering a discount for Adobe users and I just saw this over at the OnOne Software site:

onOne’s position has been pretty clear and it’s not going to change: the Perfect Photo Suite will allow you to work where you want to and when you want to, whether that be in Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture, or as a stand-alone application. We will never require you to rent your software, and you can rest assured that, when you buy onOne Software products, you own them forever.

Re: Adobe is going to only sell subscription based Photoshop

Interesting. I installed CS3 on my IMac some years ago, when it was current, and not long thereafter disconnected the IMac from the internet.
Every time I fire up PS, it tells me that it can't connect to the mothership and install "updates". I can imagine its frustration, but I am unsympathetic.

I paid good money for that software. It has its bugs, and sometimes crashes (though not taking down the IMac, which has also been
without software "improvements" during that time), but it is good enough for what I use it for, which is not much these days, since now I print in
    the darkroom.

Evidently it was designed before the "subscription model" was dreamed up by the B-school weenies at Adobe, so it lacks a self-destruct timer.
What an antique! Even anti-tank mines have those these days.

My sympathies for those who have been stranded by this greedy and foolish vendor.
    Where are we going?
And why are we in this handbasket?
