Are dry plate and wet plate holders the same thing?

Curious if there is any physical difference between a 4x5 holder for wet plate and dry plate. Seems like there are more listed on ebay as wet plate even thou it seems dry plate was more popular.

Wet plate holders are different, and not seen very often. They usually were book form type, or tambar. They had to be able to withstand drips of silver nitrate which can spoil the wood. They were often custom fit for the camera. Dryplate holders are a lot like film holders, just a little more depth for the glass plate.
