Nice! The monuments are also very nice to shoot on weekends at and just before dawn in the summer, when its ghostly quiet for DC.

Agreed, that's a lovely shot. Absolutely no distracting elements, which is rare in the city.

    Yes it is very nice.

This did not get much traction elsewhere but it is a night shot.

gregmo would it ever be possible to have the same scene to yourself for 70 seconds without the traffic? I ask because I live in a little town that does eventually sleep around 02:00 and this lets me make the images I want. Does a big city like Washington DC ever "sleep" at least to the point that you can simply cap and count when a vehicle is approaching and when its gone uncap and carry on...

    Tim & Brightmatter..thanks

Rod, I suppose during the 3-4am hour it have the least amount of traffic. Maybe, if lucky, there might not be a car passing by for the 70 seconds needed. I can't see any long gaps of several minutes without some cars passing. The monuments themselves are open to the public 24 hrs a day.

Thank you Jim! Corran suggest a 1:2 crop which I will use when it comes time to print.
