    I think that it would work either way. In any case, it is a simple crop. I do like the photo but I think that you could lower the overall values to get more shadow detail without losing the window effect (which might be a little too intense anyway).

    Is this a scan of a neg or a print?

    Scan. Can you judge subtle tonality on computer screens calibrated or not? So many monitor manufactures. So many variables. You can always print on a grade 1 paper and get more tonality but maybe you don't like contrast. I scan where base + fog density = R=G=B=0 on the computer screen and Zone 10-12ish will be R=G=B=255. I'm satisfied with how the highlights look on my monitor.

    Wisner 12x20, Ilford HP5+, Nikkor 450mm @ f/22, exposed 15 minutes and dev'd in HC-110 1:63 for 10 minutes @ 72F
