    Beautiful shot!!

Question, I haven't done LF night shots before. Do you guys go and set up near nighttime, so you can focus, frame, etc and wait patiently and then shoot? I can't imagine you can see much on the GG at nighttime.

Get a good darkcloth. Night shots are relative though - here it was plenty bright, I could see the image on the GG without a darkcloth (though it was easier to see and compose under one - I am using a queen-sized sheet!).

Shooting startrails is a lot harder though, in terms of setup/composition.

If the object you want to focus on is relatively close, you can put a flashlight next to it pointing back towards the camera and focus on that.

You can point a laser at something (not a person or animal) and focus on that. Actually you can do that at several places in the scene for near and far.

Wanted to try this. Setup a composition in my backyard and shot this over the course of 6 hours. When I went out to close the shutter though the temps had dropped much lower than expected and my lens was completely frosted up. Will have to try again another evening.

It's growing on me. Will have to look harder at the lens heater things they sell. Never needed one, before.
