Does someone here know the filter thread size of tele-congo 240mm f6.3 lens?
Does someone here know the filter thread size of tele-congo 240mm f6.3 lens?
Congo does not list a f6.3 Tele-240 on their website. 300mm seems to be the shortest tele they make.
However, they do list a Commercial Congo f6.3 240 that takes 55mm screw-in filters.
Do you actually have the lens in hand?
Is it labeled Tele-Congo on the lens barrel?
It appears that Yamasaki doesn't make a f6.3 240 Tele-Congo.
In some parts of the world, long lenses are mistakenly called "tele".
A 240 is considered to be a long lens for 4x5.
It's labeled tele-congo as i said... maybe they don't make 'em any more.
If you so skeptic, just google it... you can find many images and posts about it, but nothing about it's filter size.

And no, i'm waiting it to arrive.. if i had it, i could just measure the filter thread. But to save time, i thought i could ask and maybe order the required step up ring forehand.
I wasn't doubting your word. Just attempting to help you out.
I'll know better the next time. Best of luck on your purchase.
It actually seems that Tele-Congo 240mm f6.3 IS Commercial Congo 240mm f6.3. It's not a tele lens at all, it's a tessar! I'm kinda putting this information up as a future reference, there is not much information on this lens. And i was fooled by the Tele-Congo label. After figured it needed lots of bellows for a tele lens, ended up checking it more closely and realizing that it's actually a tessar construction.
I thought i had a nice multi coated tele lens, now i have a nice multi coated tessar.. but i needed a tele. Hah.
I used to sell Congo lenses back in the 1980s and my old pricelists and specification sheets reveal:
Tele Congo 240mm f6.3 for the 5"x7" format is a four element three group lens and was available in Electric #1, Copal #1, and Press#1 shutters and I was asking $659.00ea in the Copal #1 shutter. Technical data:

Photography:first utterance. Sir John Herschel, 14 March 1839 at the Royal Society. "...Photography or the application of the Chemical rays of light to the purpose of pictorial representation,..".
Sitting next to my keyboard is a lens mounted in a Crown Graphic lensboard that says:
Tele-Congo
1:6.3
f=240mm
Yamasaki
No.13831x
Lens Made In Japan
Copal Press #1 shutter
smallest aperture: f/64
front filter size: 55mm (currently a 55mm multi-coated UV filter is screwed in)
rear filter: no threads available
This kinda verifies what i thought, it's actually just a Commercial Congo 240mm f6.3 with a Tele-Congo name on it. Not a tele lens at all, but a tessar. The real tele lenses Congo has, starts from 300mm.

The specs you gave, are identical to the listed specs on Commercial Congo 240mm f6.3 lens.
