    Thank you, Alex.
I have an Epson V750 for scanning all my stuff, glass negatives included. I don't love the device (it has flaws) but most times it does a good job.

This was a negative, scanned as a negative (inverted by scanner software) and adjusted for contrast in Lightroom.

Glass negative made using Coffer's #7 collodion and neg developer, then intensified with a bleach/redevelop process. 5.5" Wide Field Ektar lens on the 8X10 Deardorff.

    Beautiful!!

Thank you very much! There were an awful lot of really great plates submitted, so it’s astonishing to be given such an honor as this. I’m beyond thrilled!

Wet plate collodion negative on glass, 8X10 inches. (deardorff + Ektar 12" lens: 7 minutes exposure at f11.5)
Collodion: John Coffer's #7, developed in 2 week old, well-seasoned Coffer neg developer. Plate was intensified with bleach + redevelopment process to increase density (for upcoming albumen print attempt)

Again a very nice plate, Paul. Extremely clean, I'm stunned!

Would you care to share the formula of that developer?

    In 1 liter water
:
    18 g Ferrous sulfate

    60 ml Glacial Acetic Acid
    55 ml Alcohol
 (everclear)

I also use a formula that uses quite a bit more Ferrous sulfate than the above formula (30 grams per liter) and get very good negatives, but it also contains more Glacial acetic acid to restrain the Ferrous sulfate.

Today's wet plate piece; a tintype on 4X5 aluminum, made with the Intrepid 4X5 I won in the Modern Collodion competition last month, with an old R. J. Beck Rapid Rectilinear lens on it, wide open:

    Sarracenia flava hybrid flowers, reverse.

Thanks for the formula, I'm going to give it a try! It's about 50% stronger than the one I'm currently using for negatives (I use the developer formula from unblinkingeye; negative developer without sugar). I haven't figured out the effect of developer variations on the final image; I wonder if there's much difference apart from speed of development. Do you use a helper tray to get good coverage/flow?
