Tri-- Nice plate of your son and great idea for mounting. I've mounted some clear glass ambrotypes using wire corners to attach to black velvet-covered foam core or wood board and placed inside a nice frame. I get the black velvet at a local fabric store and use 3M Super 77 spray to glue it to the backing board.

Thanks Barry, is there any way that we can avoid the wire corners?

I'm planning on dropping the wire corners since a head Smithsonian exhibit coordinator bought one of my pieces and was not too happy with the wire touching the surface. He suggested archival paper lined brass corners.

I was talking to a friend with a frame shop and he suggested using small strong magnets on the back of tintypes and also attached to the backing board.

Good lord! This is awesome! A blast from the past! I would love to do this!!! Either be your model or make plates like this, both would be a major thrill! 16x20 Collodion!!! Major photogasm!
