150mm Konica Hexanon GRII - anyone shoot with em?

    Heyo,

Anyone shoot with a 150mm Konica Hexanon GRII?
Anyone care to share a few images?

Better yet, anyone care to share an entire image and a "detail" of the image?

I'm curious about these things as image takers.

I used one quite a bit as a close-up lens on 8x10 a few years back. As sharp as you could ask for, and very nice to work with. I'll use it again someday when I'm doing more film work.

An old one with the GRII:

I tried it there, and it worked well except that it clipped the corners on 8x10. It would be great on whole-plate or smaller.

It's a real bargain, often going for well under $100. But it would be difficult to get into a shutter, which is a drawback for some.

    Thanks man!

It's going on a 5x7 and probably used for night stuff.

Looks like a bargain to me.

Keep in mind its maximum aperture of f/9 may be a bit dim for focusing at night. And its eight straight-edged aperture blades give a distinct octagonal opening, which may result in stop-sign-shaped lens flares echoing bright light sources. These may or may not be issues for you.

I tried one out-and-about. Very sharp, also somewhat flary. Use a hood, be careful about very bright highlights.

If you're going to use it for night shots shuttering it won't be an issue. I don't believe (don't recall dismantling mine to get the cells out ...) the cells will go in a standard shutter. Front-mounting is always an option.

I got this lens soon before going on a trip that I only just returned from.

I'm a huge fan on Konica lenses in other formats (I shot a lot of Konica in 135 and even had a Koni-Omega before switching to the Mamiya RB) and look forward to getting to shoot this lens.

Some of the 150mm's will cover 10x8 with a little room for movements and no clipping, it seems to depend on the cell spacing of the lens. I have one that covers 10x8 with no problems.

I have seen them mounted in a shutter but I think it's an expensive proposition. I can use mine with some of Thornton Pickard shutters quite easily.
