Chinese film source in US

Hi all,

Was doing a search this didnt jump off the pages, sorry if it is covered...

Is anyone importing the Shanghai (may be other brand names) films into the US? Anyone using them?

Now that Efke is dead (I actually managed to get the last box of 12x20) i am looking to find alternates....may move to fp4

I too have been looking at the Chinese film as I have been told they are similar old school emulsions to the now discontinued Efke film. I have not found anyone importing it but have found it available on eBay under several names. I have not purchased any however.

I have purchased film directly from China a few times. They are fast, the shipping i usually low (or "free") and I have found them generally problem free. Especially the shipping cost seems very low compared to USP.

I had a problem once..... the package never arrived...... I was refunded right away, no questions asked.

I don't remember the vendor right now, but it was a store on ebay.

Come to think of it, I vaguely remember one store was actually shipping from California. Check out the chinese film stores on ebay.

Shanghai is not like Efke. Its much closer to FP4. There used to be several dealers out of China, but these days I only see it listed by Issac Chinn (?) out of Taiwan.

Personably I find it a lot like Plus-X. I have used it for years in 120 and have a lot frozen that I bought in China but am keeping it as I use it a lot. It's been discussed a few times lately on APUG. It's not available anywhere in US and most get it from eBay or like me, direct from China (my wife is from there and I lived there for some time). Rumor has it that its likely discontinued.

It may be more like Plus-x than FP4. I heard that the plant was a joint venture with Kodak at some point, with the implication that they were producing Kodak-like film. All heresay.

What??? Import more products from China? Our stores here in the USA are bursting with products "MADE IN CHINA" Howard Tanger

I bought some a couple of years ago, and it worked well for me. Shipping was quite inexpensive, and quick.
The price now seems to be quite a bit higher than I recall.
