Can't go wrong at Point Lobos, very film worthy.

Grindstone Neck, Winter Harbor ME. Great shoreline; washed granite and basalt bedrock. Nice cobble pockets as below.

I enjoyed Bonny Doon Beach just north of Santa Cruz, Ca the other day, might even have a decent image. It's a small beach with some nice rocks and cliffs.

The Olympic Peninsula is okay (Washington state).

If you tire of beaches, you can explore rain forests & snow-capped mountains.

    Re: Favorite coastal locations

I'm kinda partial to the coast of Maine, where I am 12 months a year. Minutes away. I'm mostly in the Owls Head area, but Monhegan and the various peninsulas/connected islands (Nate mentions just one) are filled with opportunity.

I've also been to Point Lobos on the west coast and found it worthy.

Some of the most beautiful coastlines I have ever seen are in Quebec, on the Gaspe peninsula, as well as the Lower North Shore area. I have not yet traveled either with a lf camera. The current price of gas has put a damper on my excursions.
