Broken long focus attachment on Zone VI enlarger.. Parts?

During shipping my new Zone VI enlarger took a nasty hit on the side of the head. Broke the handle on the focusing wheel and just now found out that it cracked one of the connecting nuts on the long fine focus attachment. Any idea where to get parts? Fix? Ignore? With the cover off you can see the serial knuckle assembly. It broke an ear off the last one to go into the enlarger. Plastic. It does have focus knob on the other side but the long, hanging-down focus drive was really conveniant.

Man, that's a real pain! I have similar universal joints on the Saltzman enlarger. The long focus rod is seriously needed.

Fred P used standard industrial parts whenever possible. If you can (and you will eventually have to) remove the broken knuckle and the mating part (the end part, not both pieces if possible) you will find they are the same. You can put it in your pocket and cruise to an expert. My expert is a retired machinist who works at Ace Hardware.

Or measure carefully and go here: http://www.mcmaster.com/#universal-joints/=lj7awu

In the meantime I will also keep my eyes open for such a part and flexible alternative. In a pinch I have found an oil hose which I cut to length and cemented to each part. It works but is fussy.

I have a couple of Zone VI enlargers. I had a part in this mechanism break a few years ago and eventually found the exact part on smallparts.com (which now seems to have been incorporated in Amazon). I'd try searching through that site and McMaster-Carr. I think you will eventually find it.

Thanks. Boy did I ask the right folks! Looks like it is pinned on. Going to take the whole thing off and see what I can fix.

Next - a good way to drive the pins out.

Here's a copy of the install instructions. I'd take that whole assembly off the enlarger to disassemble it.

Figuring out the right one is the trick. Have to go take more photos. Got half of it here for measurement. Looks like they bored an extra hole for a pin to hold it on the shaft. Better get my calipers.

Got plenty of measurements. For someone who has done it before: 1. Did you have to drill new holes in the new part for the roll pin that holds it on the shaft? And: 2. Did you replace the whole double knuckle assembly or just half of it, a single knuckle?

Drove top pin out without any problem.

    Thanks!
