  1. Re: Source needed for KCN, potassium cyanide

You don’t need kcn for gaining a color. Developer can also give you a warm color.

Re: Longest Wet Plate Exposure Times

My longest one was over 20 minutes. Outside.
Of course the camera was in the shade.
And can always place a wet towel inside the bellows to prevent the plate from drying.

    Re: Optics cleaning with Collodion

You can even clean your glass plates with old collodion left overs.
Most effective way to clean glass
  6. Re: Small white streaks on plates, what's the cause?

Comets are caused by dust particles. Mostly fallen on the plate AFTER the plate is placed into the plate holder.
So make sure you are using a clean plate holder. After exposed take out the plate...

As Rudi says, it made it possible to use the front part only as a landscape lens.

Mount it (the ridges) towards the grinded side of your ground glass and it will have the same effect.

    Definately not 400mm.
That size is a 300mm lens. I have two with exactly the same size.
  17. Re: Understanding Allen Rumme's Lens Database

  18. Re: Any tips & tricks for operating lenses without own shutter (lens cap on-off)

Take of the cap and hold it in front of the lens instead of pulling it of.
With wet or dry plate it works fine because of the low iso value. No vibration and always ready the exact monent.
  19. Re: Information on Hermagis Petzval Lens

Steven, i don’t think you really need a petzval that big to cover 8x10”.
I have been using 300mm hermagis petzvals for 8x10 without any problem.
