Dunno whether Bob is at liberty to say, but I wonder how many Technikas were being sold annually in the US by that point - hard to imagine that it was a huge number.

    Re: Digital Prints - Horrors

All things considered, it sounds like the best investment of your "printing time" just now would be to shop around for another lab that is able to be more responsive to your needs and preferences.

    Re: Digital Prints - Horrors

What Drew said. Before you draw conclusions about inkjet, try some glossy papers. They still won't look like a screen, but they might provide enough of the brilliance you're looking for.
  7. Re: Planning a brief course on the history of large format photography

I've merged these as it seems both threads are discussing the same course.
  8. Re: Lens boards for Wista 45D - same as Technica?

A technicality: Wista has offered boards with centered holes in all sizes, not just #3. See, for example:

So one needs to be careful about the...

Re: Quitting Flickr Soon for imgbb

The Imgbb website says nothing about who's behind it.

A quick web search reveals... nothing.

So for now, all I know about them is that they are unwilling to reveal who they are.

  13. Re: I would like to learn how to do macrophotography with my 8X10.

    OK, so for completeness: the Apo-Macro-Sironars are 120 and 180, the Macro-Sironar-N's are 210 and 300. The Nikkor AM's are 120 and 210. And the Makro-Symmar HM's are 80, 120 and 180. The macros...

There are. Two examples that are specified for 8x10 are the 210 mm and 300 mm Macro-Sironar-N.

When they want to be schmancy they call it "dye destruction".
  18. Re: What is the fancy name for C-41 and RA4 processed prints.

Both C-41 and RA-4 are chromogenic processes. Museums and galleries often label the prints as "chromogenic prints".
