Re: Compur Electronic 3 battery issue

You probably had the bad luck to have bought a bad battery. Just get another one and go forward.
  2. Re: Are there alternatives for Schneider Super Angulon XL 210mm to cover 11x14"?

Hmm. I love obscure old lenses as much as the next photographer, but they're all hard to find and are often expensive. Expensive modern lenses are usually easier to find.

    Re: Giday!

Jumbo, I'm not sure that the Oz LF site will give you what you want, but you should look at it. https://viewcameraaustralia.org/
  4. Re: Are there alternatives for Schneider Super Angulon XL 210mm to cover 11x14"?

Bernice, they're quite rare, but Berthiot made f/14 Perigraphes in focal lengths up to 800 mm. That's a #14. The 200 I suggested above is a #5.

    I have #s 1, 1bis and 2. They give away little to...
  5. Re: Are there alternatives for Schneider Super Angulon XL 210mm to cover 11x14"?

Oren, thanks for the correction. I've edited the original post to remove the error.

There's unobtanium and then there's unobtanium. I wish the OP luck in finding a 200/14 Perigraphe VIa.
  6. Re: Are there alternatives for Schneider Super Angulon XL 210mm to cover 11x14"?

    200/6.8 Grandagon-N, claimed coverage 495 mm @ f/22. 5 mm < 210/5.6 SAXL

edited to correct an err0r (210) kindly pointed out by Oren Grad, to whom all credit is due
  7. Re: How To Test The Shutter On a Lens Intended for Use on a Graflex

Huh? Graphic press camera or Graflex SLR?
  8. Re: Lens board light leak / lens board question

Thanks for showing us. You may have a board drilled for a #1 shutter. If so, the hole's diameter will be 39 mm. Whether or not this is so, get a board (ask Intrepid) drilled for a #0.
  9. Re: Lens board light leak / lens board question

First of all make sure that the shutter is properly seated. Unscrew the lens' rear cell, unscrew the retaining ring, make sure that the back of the shutter level on the front of the board, reattach...
  10. Re: Kodak Supermatic aperture scale question.

Hmm. I have a 105/3.7 Ektar in Flash Supermatic in front of me. I have a dial caliper in my right hand. The diaphragm is wide open and the pointer is at the 3.7 tick mark. The diaphragm lever is...

    Re: Cable release thread

Look at the nice picture you posted. The block that the release screws into is held to the side of the shutter's body by two screws. You want to replace it, or have it replaced. You don't want to...
  13. Re: Any picture examples of color film with old lenses?

OP, I'm sorry that I have no examples to show you. I have, though, shot E-6 with a number of uncoated lenses, all anastigmats. f/6.3 Tessars from CZJ and Bausch & Lomb. Also with coated lenses...

Re: 14x17 Tessar Series IIb worth fixing?

Years ago Bert Saunders sent me instructions for cleaning B&L Tessars' in barrel diaphragm mechanisms. Here's a link to it: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AggQfcczvHGNgkP30QQrY1NPA1aA?e=yUaHiY

Re: Prism Finder for Ebony Camera

Used inline viewers for 6x9/2x3 are out there. Look, look and look again. I believe that this http://linhof.com/en/balgenlupe-m-679-und-techno/ is still available, ask Linhof how/where to buy one....

Re: Prism Finder for Ebony Camera

Toyo also made one that fits their 6x9 slider. Inline, not reflex.
  21. Re: Cambo sc and Schneider 90mm f/8 Super Angulon Multicoated focus problems

Agree pretty much. After the OP sets the camera up properly and finds that the bellows contrains movements intolerably, then it will be time to shop for a bag bellows. But first things first, and...
  22. Re: Cambo sc and Schneider 90mm f/8 Super Angulon Multicoated focus problems

Yes, but they come closer than needed when set up normally with the tripod mounting block positioned in front of the front standard or behind the rear standard.
  23. Re: Cambo sc and Schneider 90mm f/8 Super Angulon Multicoated focus problems

The OP should set the camera up properly before shelling out for a board that's not needed.
  24. Re: Cambo sc and Schneider 90mm f/8 Super Angulon Multicoated focus problems

This is a well-known problem. The well-known solution is to position the tripod mounting block in front of the front standard or behind the rear standard. When the tripod mounting block is...

Re: Prism Finder for Ebony Camera

As far as I know the only reflex viewer for 2x3 view cameras is Sinar's. Emmanuel Bigler has one, let me play with it. The view is lovely.

Cambo makes an inline viewer that fits 2x3 Graflok...

Re: Lens and shutter combo check

I don't mean to be snarky, but why are you so worried? If the lens fits the shutter at all it should be OK. If the cells are in artisanal home-made adapters, its risky. I'll bet they aren't. I...

Alan, they're all much the same. See http://www.bnphoto.org/bnphoto/LFN/ReflexFinders1.html

  28. Re: Help me pick a couple of lenses for Sinar Norma please please

Not what you want to be told.

I just took a look on ebay.co.uk. LF lenses located in the EU are generally too expensive for you. Look for Fujinon LF lenses offered there and on ebay.com by...
  29. Re: Is the obsession with analogue gearing an obstacle to art?

I take it that there are parts of the process that you don't appreciate or enjoy.
  30. Re: Do I need to worry about really heavy lenses causing damage?

Hmm. A number of posts in this discussion have mentioned lens supports. I call these things crutches, have two, one lens-specific the other more generalized.

    My lens-specific crutch is a...
  31. Re: Ilex No. 3 Universal shutter retaining ring size..

No, cells that fit an EKCo Ilex won't fit one supplied to other Ilex customers, and vice versa.
  32. Re: Ilex No. 3 Universal shutter retaining ring size..

Um, Robbie, I b'lieve that the EKCo Ilexes have different internal, not external threading. Could be mistaken.

    Re: Wide Angle RR

Not WARs, Kent, but I have three f/14 Perigraphe Ser. VIa lenses. 60, 75 and 90 mm. Not hard to focus out-of-doors.
  34. Re: G-Claron 150mm f/11 - Any info appreciated

As I suggested, older lens in newer barrel.
  35. Re: G-Claron 150mm f/11 - Any info appreciated

lasse, measure the diameter of the entrance pupil with the aperture indicator at 9 and at 11. Divide the measured diameters into 150 and tell us what you got.
  36. Re: G-Claron 150mm f/11 - Any info appreciated

There are two versions of G-Clarons, the earlier dagor types and the later plasmat types.

I have a dagor type 150/9 G-Claron with a higher serial number than yours so yours should be a dagor type....

Re: how to work out shims

If it came with the lens it is what's needed. The only thing you have to do is not lose it if you move the lens to another shutter.
  38. Re: 480mm-600mm barrel lenses, covers 14x17 wide open, faster than f9?

500/6.3 Krauss Tessar. Not that common but they turn up from time to time on ebay.com and ebay.fr.
