The SSXL 150 is an incredible lens but because of the design, there is considerable light falloff and you will need a CF. They are expensive. 150mm is very wide for 8x10 and I ended up selling...

How much coverage did the 165 Angulon give? I understand it to be soft in the corners for 8x10.

Karl, have you compared this with the 210mm G-Claron? I have the latter and it's a great lens, although a bit slow at f/9.

I'm not sure about that. Try a portrait with 8x10 TMAX (developed in xtol) and FP4 (developed in rodinal), and contact print them. They'll be very different.

Ok, so it looks like there's no specific reason not to use xtol for fp4 and I can just stick with the one developer for everything.

The Ilford data sheet for fp4+ only indicates times for stock xtol -- does anyone know why they don't give times for 1+1? Is there some reason why xtol is a poor choice for fp4?

I use a 305 G-Claron for 8x10. It's a great lens, although it doesn't seem to handle having the sun in the frame without distracting amounts of flare. I've seen LF photos with the sun in the frame...

That's pretty much what I thought re HP5. I use it to capture the strong contrasty light here in Australia, giving generous exposure and reduced development, and think of it as a low contrast film...

My understanding of HP5 is that it does have a long straight line -- did I read your comment correctly?

I've tried a Jobo print drum on a motorized roller base, for 5x7 negs, and had had uneven development, as well as negatives slip out of place. Which drum are you using?

What agitation technique are you using?

The 180mm Dagor is a nice lens with room for movements on 8x10.

Vision Image Lab is where I've had mine done in the past, although I stopped shooting E6 some time ago.

I believe they do b&w, although I'd go to Blanco Negro for that.

I'd love to see how it works with a 150 SSXL.
