This thread is always so inspiring and it's inspired me to try something new (to me) with lighting - just minimal one bulb on the flower(s) to get a black background and surface. Both of these were...
Backed, but worried that they won't make their goal. I've had the film holder for awhile. It would be a real shame for this to fail.
Oooh, Kodachrome! That's nice. One thing they were VERY serious about was I could not shoot from any of the balconies. Or in front of any stairs. Of course the ONE shot everyone wants is from the...
Thanks, Pete! I grabbed an email from their website and just sent them a quick message telling them what I wanted to do. I didn't hear back so I sent a reminder email and a woman answered with some...
Hey Stone, read it and weep. ;) it actually wasn't that bad, but I would be much more prepared and focused next time.
I was going to say exactly this. Looks like fun time was had by all, Randy. Nice job!
Nice! Love everything about this from the God's Country sign to the leaning pole.
Those are fantastic. Good, vintage feel to that second one.
Mega Glass in Park Slope is a neighborhooed fixture. The owner told me that the place has been a glass shop since 1907. It's a beautiful old space, but with the skyrocketing rents in Park Slope, they...
I just use ordinary metal clips attached to a fondue fork that's wedged under some heavy books on my bookshelf in my office. My drying room/office is shared by a few cats and a long-haried dachshund....
This cracks me up, because I used to do just that to record my favorite song on the radio. And then the songs I wanted to hear were not ever played on the radio. Sporify would have been amazing back...
Jonathan, this is really beautiful. Your photo stopped me in my tracks.
I purchased a rolling suitcase/backpack from IKEA to carry my 2D around in the city. It fits the camera folded up and four holders, plus things like cable release and black t-shirt for dark cloth.
Fantastic image, but I'm even more stunned by what the amazed lens was capable of.

Peter, that fog series is fantastic. I see a lot of fog in the mornings when I'm running with my wife and always wish I had a good camera with me!
I've really been enjoying this thread. So much that you've all forced me to break out my Eastman 2D and try my hand. I think I need to pull my light back a bit from the flowers as this is too hot on...
Gorgeous, Jonathan.
Thanks! Feels tiny and so easy to use after hauling 8x10 around though. :)
I just used the 80mm 2.8 lens for this, but put a Tiffen dark orange (#21) filter on it.

Yes, they all do. However, I've noticed a big difference between x-ray film and films like Tri-X or HP5+. This HR-T does not need as much adjustment in my experience.
Hey, thank you for the kind words.
Yeah, I had read that it needed extra time (almost as much as other B&W films), but I 've not treated it the same as I would treat say Tri-X. Would love to see some longer exposures like you...
Andrew, is there is a way to mess it up trust me I'll find it. :)
Sure thing, Randy. Here's a link that describes my attempt with ziploc and then one with trays. My trays are ribbed, so I just line the bottoms with a piece of smooth glass. I rock all four sides of...
Randy, that was my cautionary tale for the Ziploc method. I totally messed it up, largely due to my own errors. I've been getting consistent results using smooth bottom trays with gentle agitation. ...
Trays. Cheap and easy.
I've been shooting some 8x10 portraits at f22 and 1/4 of a second lately with my measly one light setup. It's tricky, but I just explain the process to the sitter and do a dry run. It helps them to...
Thanks for this post, Peter. I live in The area and had forgot about the show!
Yeah, this Spring I'll goof around in the park with some good greenery and a blue sky. Of course we just got more snow and ice yesterday. :)
Thanks! That looks great and still has the light colored leaves. Might have to pick up a yellow filter. Mine is a dark orange #21, so am worried that it might give me nada like the #25.

Am glad someone asked this. I have a dark orange filter that I want to use for outdoor shots with sky, but was wondering how it would look with green-sensitive X-ray film. I'll find out once Spring...

I had high hopes for this shot, but the area is heavily populated with tourists. I was able to wait while the guy took about 45 pics of his girl with his iPad. I was able to wait out a huge group who...
Man, Corran that is gorgeous. Can't wait to try mine out in the park this Spring.
Trying out orange filter at my usual test shot location.
