Re: Reflection or light on an eye

This is my setup. When I shoot, I sometimes have to hold up the white reflector with one hand, and click the shutter release in the other hand, while holding the dark slide between my knees. But it...

Re: what went wrong -- LIGHT LEAK !

Thanks to all! I do keep an index of holders and light leaks, so I'll monitor this one. Probably a one-off mistake in technique, but that's why we keep doing this!!

what went wrong -- LIGHT LEAK !

I'm trying to figure out what went wrong here - did some light leak in between the holder and the camera? Any guesses would be appreciated!208929

Re: Help with developing results good and bad

The "bad" negatives are grossly out of focus, so it must involve a problem when you shot them. Maybe the tripod moved, or you hadn't tightened all the knobs (I've done all of this and more).
  12. Re: What can cause TINY TINY white spots on a neg?

Another possibility is microbubbles formed by the acid stop bath. I've always used a water stop bath for this reason.
  13. Re: ARTIFACT on my negative - what kind of light leak is this?

Excellent advice! What a wealth of experience. No, the rebate edges were not fogged, so it clearly happened when the holder was in the camera. I'm usually fastidious about keeping the dark cloth...
  14. ARTIFACT on my negative - what kind of light leak is this?

    Hello all -
Recently encountered a light leak, and I can't figure out how it happened. Any ideas? It's HP5, 4x5, in a previously tried and true film holder. I'm wondering, maybe the dark cloth...

Re: Strobes vs Continuous Lighting with MF and LF?

Check out Timothy Greenfield-Sanders' work. He shoots studio portraits in 8x10. If you're serious about portraiture with artificial light, I'd recommend taking a workshop or class to get started.

Re: Digital printing: Papers for Black and white

For bookmaking, the paper must fold cleanly. I have tried almost every duo paper that is semi-gloss/luster/pearl. They all have a coating that cracks and fragments at the fold. So I've settled on...

  23. Re: Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl surface sensitivity--solved

Try toggling between "relative colorimetric" versus "perceptual" settings in PS. One or the other, I can't remember which, has a tendency to overload the ink where there are very saturated areas.

  27. What is the Yelw/Blu/Wht/Red switch on my Goerz Rectagon 6 inch lens?

Just acquired a Goerz Rectagon 6" f.6 lens. On the side there's a small switch that can be cocked like a shutter, with a scale of 25/20/5/0, the color labels, and a tiny knurled knob.

    What does...

Re: scanning 8x10" film by Epson V700 scanner

I am told that the accuracy and precision of the scan is superior if you should scan at the final, desired resolution of your largest print, and specify the size of that print. The scanner does a...
