I don't have a timer so I just flicked the switch powering my enlarger quickly. 60W incandescent light source through a 50mm lens. Not sure of the f number used.

The enlarger head was quite far...
  4. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

On a lark I did a double-exposure onto a sheet of 8x10 Fuji HR-U from 2 similar (but slightly offset) half-35mm negatives during my last printing session. Tossed the sheet into a flat bottomed tray...

Re: Methods For Hardening Film Emulsion?

This is my experience as well. It's not magic bullet, but tendency to scratch while tray processing seems reduced.

You could employ a stop bath augmented with [chrome] alum to harden up the film....
  6. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

There wasn't anything particularly rigorous about the process since x-ray film affords the ability to do continuous inspection under a safelight, but here's a rough outline. Its essentially the same...
  7. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

After a few failed attempts, I successfully reversal processed an 8x10 sheet of Fuji HR-U. There were still some scratches owing to the very small volume of solutions I used during tray processing,...

  9. Re: Question on using Inert gas to protect unused Developer

Dry nitrogen is sufficiently inert at normal temperature and pressures. Argon has the advantage of being denser and thus more effective at displacing oxygen at the exposed surface of the developer...

Re: Contact Printing Using the Sun?

Exposure times with modern photo paper would need to be pretty quick as mentioned before; likely fractions of a second, as if you were shooting paper negatives.

In fact, if you find contact...

The film's emulsion (present on both sides, in most cases) is relatively fragile while dry but scratching can be minimized with careful handling during loading/unloading. The emulsion becomes...
