Thanks for posting this. I had not heard of this, so I looked it up.
Generic acrylic, including acrylic with a P99 texture, can pass UV-A and UV-B light, but block UV-C. UV-C is very low...
To further confuse matters - there's a few different versions of this lens. One version is an f/2.7 variant, which I had for a few years and was in a #4 Compound IIRC. I don't know if the f/2.8 would...
Take a gander at my post in the DIY forum about making a hold-down plate for ULF film on my scanner.
I use the same basic P99 acrylic sheet for contact printing ULF. Some here have exclaimed it...
21mm works for the short dimension. 25mm for the long. Pick your poison.
I LOVE Pierrot Lunaire!
Michael, you haven't heard "In C" until you've sat in a massive coliseum with 1,000+ 6th graders playing it on recorders. Yes this really happened and I was unfortunately in attendance.
Kiwi - I...
Good job Pali!
We had a somewhat clear night for the first time in over a month a couple nights ago, and I couldn't find my telescope's dang power cable for tracking!! I may have some extra cash...

In C - Terry Riley
Thanks John! Yes she is, and sometimes she does carry a bit of gear for me :). Currently she wants to learn how to shoot my Rolleiflex so I will be getting her some film to shoot soon.
My newest 'darkcloth' for my 12x20 is simply an old bedsheet. Folded in half for a bit more opaqueness (queen-size). It's only a few ounces in weight.
Now what ever gave you that idea Joe? ;)
After much philosophical debate, I believe the "definition" of music we came up with back when I was in college was "organized sound." No reason to sound...
Nice work!
After I shot the waterfall I posted on the last page, I hastily packed up and my wife and I hiked back to the car, as it was raining while shooting. I realized when I got back I had...
HA!
If I was still teaching I would add that song to my curriculum somehow.
Back in undergrad I wrote quite the thesis on Schoenberg's 12-tone technique as applied in his 3rd String Quartet. My...
I have a couple records from Glass, including some works that I don't think have been re-released on CD. My wife thinks I'm a bit crazy when I listen to them - they are certainly "out there."
I...
Sure, but he's in the latter part of the period, and at least in my thoughts, the pinnacle of the style (for better or worse).
With regard to operas - I greatly enjoyed seeing the MET live...
From experience - there's nothing more exhausting than performing Wagner.
Just my opinion here - but I absolutely loath his work. I just find it extraordinarily tedious - the logical end to the...
I don't think anyone said it won't work, just that it is of dubious use for the most part if just wanting a wide aspect ratio. Notable exceptions would be to exaggerate the rotating fisheye-esque...
Heck, you can often use a step-down filter and make due with smaller filters on camera lenses as long as you don't mind a slight hit on your image circle. I would guess most folks aren't pushing the...
If you are interested, message or email me and I'll send you my raw DSLR scan and then a high-end scan from my Screen Cezanne when I scan it properly later tonight. Sometimes when I'm impatient to...
Thanks Gary! Yes there was much more there since last I've been, bunched up below the observation deck. I was excited to see it as I thought this composition worked really well. It was actually...
Perhaps your monitor. I can see a variety of tones in the higher values. That said, this is a super quick and dirty scan on a lightbox with my DSLR. I'll definitely print this shot - better than my...
Valentine's Weekend Hike @ Helton Creek Falls
Intrepid 4x5 mk.4, Schneider 72mm XL, Efke 100, Pyrocat

Depends on the camera.
Food for thought - a "4x10" image made with a 150mm lens means on a half 4x5 sheet he would be looking at about a 75mm lens.
Using that half darkslide means the image will either be "shifted" up...
I've seen some say 325mm for 8x10. Exact pixel measurements via Photoshop of a scanned, dry 8x10 sheet gives me 319mm from end to end and 312.5mm for image area. I usually say 312mm for 8x10 coverage...
Nikkor-SW 120mm f/8 is truly a gem and a real sleeper lens, selling for much cheaper than you'd expect for such a useful optic for the multi-format crowd. Usually less than a 58mm XL for 4x5, despite...
Keep an eye out. I paid $850 for mine.
The Linhof QR system is terrible. Stay away if you can. Besides which, I don't think it'll work with the Compur #2 anyway. It wouldn't with the ones I have, anyway.
Yep it does. The weights are only really needed when scanning several rolls of 35mm which all are curling and pressing up against the plate.
Buy a Horseman 6x12 holder, or if you want the spherical look like you get from stitching, consider a Noblex 150.
Some people like stitching, but I can't imagine hoping for it to work while...
Drab Winter Waterfall (Amicalola Falls)
Wisner 12x20, 360mm Symmar
Really I just wanted to see if I could do a vertical with this camera. I need to try this again on a better day. It started to...
I have a similar Compur and a similar problem on mine, as well as that issue on a larger Compur with a 360mm Symmar in it. But on mine, the whole metal block is just gone, with a hole left instead.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say I use the 1/8" P99. Do you have something thicker? I wondered if thicker would cause issues.
I also use P99 for framing with good results. Just got a small piece for an...
Two more pieces of advice:
1. If you get any accumulation of dust, carefully clean with alcohol and lint-free wipes. Pec-Pads are highly recommended.
2. It's best to let the superglue dry for a...
Hello fellow Cezanne users! You may find this instructional to make custom hold-down plates of use, especially for ULF film scanning:

A quick guide on making custom hold-down plates for the Screen Cezanne, and likely other flatbed scanners. Also, you can use these for contact printing if you are careful while handling the acrylic...
I like all of the complexities in the ice, especially on the bottom left.
PS: full sun, on Efke 25, my 6" Aero-Ektar on a Speed Graphic, I think the exposure was 1/60 or 1/125 (I overexposed it and used a pyro developer):
...
Just use your normal ND filter with the appropriate filter factor? At full sun at f/2.5 with an ND4 filter on 100-speed film you'll be at roughly 1/1000.
You may not even need the ND filter....
