I'm jealous---you're in for a lot of fun on your LF journey!
Not to mention that 8x10 contacts are just beautiful (if the photographer does his part)
Just sayin'
I had a friend who got one of the old postal jeeps.
Yup, it was beat to near death.
It ended up spending the summer as a neighborhood ice cream truck with a Whirlpool chest freezer in the back...
Fear not the 8x10.

All the US Mail delivery vans are scheduled for replacement soon, and will probably be available cheap as surplus.
Might be fertile ground for a DIY'er if you don't mind the steering wheel being on...
Maybe take a snorkel to keep from fogging the ground glass when composing under the dark cloth?
I haven't heard any reports on the Sequoia Natl'l Park General's Highway or Grant Grove yet.
Welcome aboard!
Some pictures of "1"

The last I heard, none of the famous named sequoias in Mariposa Grove were "down."
Cool!
What a storm!

FWIW Gepes have a long enough throw to cock and fire my Ilex Universals. My Minettes will not.
I find bulls in the pasture to be a practical concern.
Rather too thrilling, in fact!
Do you have a bathroom?
They often make great dark rooms.
I haven't had the run of a real dark room--- outside of High School---ever!
It takes about ten minutes to convert our guest wc into a...
My bride sewed me a dark cloth about 20 years ago from leftover fabric. It still works fine.
The white side is a little stained now but that's OK with me.
My preference is for Ilford HP-5+ in most cases, sometimes FP-4+ from Badger Graphic. Also Ilford Ortho Plus 80 when I can find it.
I keep a variety of film in the freezer (Arista.edu Ultra, Xray)...
Running out of time and running out of health. There is so much I'd like to photograph on big beautiful negatives.
Try Vodka.
It won't get the glass clean, but if you drink enough of it you won't care
Welcome aboard!
My son and his friend were climbing Five Open Books yesterday. Reports that the valley was near deserted, the weather beautiful and saw only two patches of ice on 41 going into the valley
I just found this info about the Winchell Cove Cemetery!
https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2375588/memorial-search?firstname=&lastname=&cemeteryname=&page=1#sr-60780160
Not knowing the exact location and a sketchy description, we took a hike in search of the Winchell Cove Cemetery somewhere on a point overlooking Winchell Cove Marina at Millerton Lake.
This was our...
What a WW2 training camp looked like though Speed Graphic cameras.
It takes a while to load.

Having Granny in her rocker up in the crow's nest bird dogging photo ops is a nice feature! :)
For the longest time. a plain Jane 14" Commercial Ektar kept my 8x10 quite happy.
After about 20 years a few more lenses sneaked aboard, but it still sees a lot of use.
None are of 'em are fancy,...
For the win!
What about Pretzel lenses?
And those illusive Cooke Triple Convertibles?
People wanting to go play in the snow, I guess.
With most services closed on account of the 'rona and not much plowing going on, I fear a lot of guests will spend their visit just driving around...
Shopping for LF lenses are a little like being on a journey. A lens collection is similar to those stickers which those hotels that you stopped at on your way used to place on steamer trunks.
Enjoy...
Once you really get to understand and appreciate whatever lens you're using, then you make it special.:)
Having a good working shutter helps.
As far which lens to start with (I'm assuming for...
Tunnels in Dallas in the Winter? Tunnels for what?
Welcome aboard
I'd recommend an intimate Italian dinner at home.
Light some beeswax candles.
Some Dean Martin or Francis Albert Sinatra on the stereo.
A bottle of chilled Prosecco.
No, wait. What??
Never...
I used to keep a check list until one day when I forgot where I left it.:o
