I'm old enough to remember that... and the ad too:

It's been discussed here before:

Sinar used to offer a front-surface mirror (catalog no. 538.11) that could be mounted in a Sinar 4x5 standard and positioned on the rail in front of the lens for just this purpose.
Good point, that's surely an important part of it. But both Schneider and Rodenstock specified smaller maximum apertures for their 480's when supplied in Compur or Prontor rather than Copal (f/9.4...
Nitpick: in addition to the 480, which as usual is constrained by the shutter (down to 56 degrees), the 300 is specified for only 72 degrees.
Schneider's published MTF curves don't suggest...
Tangential to this thread, but the ultra-short version: Alaris was not a pre-existing company. It was created from scratch during Eastman Kodak's 2012 bankruptcy as part of the settlement of EK's...
Bruce, that account of the history isn't quite right. But most important for the present context, last June Kodak Alaris sold the photo paper and photo chemicals business on to Sino Promise:

I've shot a lot of Instax, both color and monochrome. It's so wildly different from color and B&W negative films that I don't think there's much to be gained by using it for tests. Both types of...
It is allowed - you are announcing a new book in which LF work is an important part.

Long ago on one occasion when I met with Dick Phillips, he showed me a book of 8x10 contact prints on pearl-surface RC paper. Can't remember whether it was spiral-bound or comb-bound, but it was one...
Mike, if you're looking at process lenses, the 150 mm Computar will also easily cover 5x7 in close work. I use mine, stopped way down, as a wide for non-close work with whole plate.
120 mm Makro-Symmar HM
Also, for completeness, full names for the others I mentioned:
120 mm Apo-Macro-Sironar
120 mm Nikkor-AM ED
Nikon, Rodenstock and Schneider all offered 120mm macro lenses that, per specification, comfortably cover 5x7 at 1:1.
There's some documentation on the Champion website, though it seems to be aimed primarily at commercial labs.

Can you explain concretely what you hope to achieve by sharing your work more broadly? The rest will follow from that.
When I got started in large format around 25 years ago I chose HP5 Plus for its extra speed, its forgiving latitude in processing and its characteristic curve, which I find relatively easy to print...
They don't say, so I guess I'd first try whatever dealer you use for the regular annual ULF order, if you've done that. I see that Fred Newman has put up a notice on his website.
IIRC our own Monty McCutchen shoots as large as 20x24, though not sure how much of that is film vs wet plate. Why not ask him?
EDIT: A Google search on "largeformatphotography.info/forum 20x24"...

Key points:
* Deadline Feb 28; next opportunity may not occur for 18-24 months
* Sheet film sizes - double-asterisk is reminder...
Here's another way to think about it:

...except that would mean that "D-76 1:1" is undiluted D-76, which is never how that notation has been used. This kind of confusion is why many of us prefer the X+Y notation rather than X:Y.

No problem, thanks for sharing it!
Here's the direct link, hopefully will continue to work after today:

Now *that* is just... inspired.

What is closest focus?

It's OK to provide the link.

The capture is LF, so it meets our definition even considered strictly. And I don't...
Yes, one needs to be careful about defending against malicious use of such tools.
Thanks, Wayne. Our technical gurus are well aware of proper backup discipline for day-to-day operational continuity. The general question of DIY crawlers for database-independent archiving had just...
In between the schmoozing and the umpteenth repetition of discussions about common equipment and materials and basic photographic technique, there are threads here that contain information -...
Note that the thread was launched in 2005. That is indeed when the Kodak paper ship sailed.
Received an email from Badger today that my order has just shipped.
Any left-over IV is going to be pretty old stock at this point - it's been out of production for a while.
Heh, I'm slow sometimes... :o:p
Agree about the backprinting, RC is generally pretty picky about what pencils, inks, etc. it will take.
That's because they are no longer offering the paper with pre-printed postcard back. The template isn't as good as the real thing, but at least they're acknowledging and trying to be responsive to...
Ilford is now coating its fifth-generation Multigrade RC emulsion on the thicker "Portfolio" RC base as well. Pearl surface only for now.

What Christopher Burkett has to say about Cibachrome status:
https://christopherburkett.com/about/cibachrome
I don't know of any lab still offering it to the public.
Those of us who have been around for a long time will recall that it was "lifetime plus reincarnations". :)
Seriously, though, that warranty was offered by the then-distributor in the US, Karl...
Daniel and John - that's great!
Can you tell how you got the side "caps" off without destroying them? Or otherwise how you got the things disassembled? I've poked at mine a bit with no luck and...
Welcome to the Forum!
The back you are showing is not a Rittreck back - it's a back from an older Japanese wooden camera that takes old-style book-form film or plate holders. The Rittreck 5x7...
I've used Sistan, no longer do because I worry about the risk of problems that can become apparent only much later, when it's too late to do anything about it. In part that's because I don't like to...
