  1. Adox CMS 20 II & Mortensen's Glycin Variant

I really wanted to see how this high resolution film (800 lines/mm) would perform in Mortensen's Glycin Variant... I was quite pleased, and was able to make a lovely, little, Carbon Transfer print.

  2. Re: Have you had to pay hefty customs fees when buying from Japan?

But... (I forgot to mention this...) I will not buy an item if the only way is DHL, or UPS. They are crooks...especially the latter.
  3. Re: Have you had to pay hefty customs fees when buying from Japan?

I've found fees to be reasonable, over the many years I've dealt with Japan sellers, even for stuff under $200. My Fujinon W 180 just arrived. $40 FedEx, and $11 dollars tax. I don't mind paying $40...

Thanks! Both the 44 and 44A are 2 stops. I'm waiting for an 80A filter to arrive, so I can see what it will do...

The Ortho Look On Pan Film

Not large format, but the focus is on filters... 44, and the 44A.

  8. Re: How many holders do you usually take with you when shooting?

For ultra-large format...in my case, 14x17... I only have one holder. I could only afford one. Two sheets of XRAY.

    Welcome!
  10. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

It could very well be from being xrayed. I had banding on IR sheet film, but it ran the width of the film, not the length, like yours. And there was more than one band.

    Re: Selenium Intensifying A Negative

I selectively intensified an HP5 negative with a brush once. I wanted better separation in the relief of a big bell outside a Buddhist temple. I carefully puddled the selenium toner over the bell,...

I'll bet it'll be fine. I have a box of double-sided green from 2005. Kept it in a drawer. It's totally fine.

Re: extra wide angle lens for 8x10

I just snagged an older Fujinon W 180 from Japan. It'll be nice having something that will cover 8x10, between my Nikkor 120 SW, and Nikkor W 210 :)

    Re: PyrocatHD no tan (?)

Next time, try 1+1+50. That is how I prefer to develop HP5, to get more stain. Some films don't show much stain.

Lovely photography, John. I did stare at the log at the bottom of my falls, but there was just way too much water, mist, and wind coming at me, that I decided to save it for late Summer, early...

That is something that I need to look at more closely. I have been planning to take out some TMX, and TMY, as well as Delta 100 and 400, for a comparison.

There is an easy way to calibrate the L-588. I calibrated it to my Minolta F. I then checked it off of a grey card, in the shadows, and highlights.
