  2. Re: Neil Montanus, a Kodak Colorama Photographer, Dies at 92Rip

It was nice reading about this guy and his work. Very inspirational. I saw a couple of the coloramas but not enough of them. Boy I'm getting old.

Re: Initial Results of testing Tmax100

Oh. The lab will change developers from Xtol if requested at a $50 setup charge. But is that necessary? Also, here are some shots to give you an idea of what and how I shoot Tmax 100 currently....

Re: Initial Results of testing Tmax100

I shoot medium format 120 Tmax 100 roll film with an RB67. I set exposure based on ASA 100 and a hand held light meter with incident light or 10% reflective. But then I bracket as well +1 and...

    Re: Focal Length and Cinematography

This is a good reason to remember to slow down and get the shot in the camera. You can't change composition, angles, perspectives, etc in PS.

I think you can set the black and white points if you check Color Control in COnfiguration but don;t check Continuous Auto Exposure under it. I've been told you get more data doing that then letting...

I check No COlor Correction two tabs below where you checked. I'll set white and black points though. But that's it. Everything else in post processing.
  10. Re: Video of Ansel Adams' Story of Visualization Breakthrough

I'm curious. Seeing something in your mind's eye and then being able to create that view in your photo, doesn;t make the final picture artistic. What you visualize in your eye has to be artistic to...

Re: Having trouble to get right exposure

I found your picture oK. Looks fine to me. A couple of extra bright surfaces are not that noticeable, at least in a small size you presented. The "shadow" areas look fine. Exposure looks correct.

Re: Strange Dark line in Negative

When I first bought my Mamiya RB67 medium format camera that shoots 120 roll film, all 10 shots on my first roll had a very thin red line showing. I was befuddled? So I took apart the camera. The...

Professional services don't do more than check the gages and put a label on the extinguisher certifying it was inspected. Even home use extinguishers are "approved" by CSA or UL. So as long as the...

By the way, my Kidde fire extinguishers were recalled. All the plastic top ones had problems going on for over 25 years. Check yours out with the manufacturer. Kidde replaced mine for free.

  21. Re: Does any scanner have a 3 exposure HDR scan option?

These are Velvia 50's single scanned with V600 and adjusted in Elements or LR afterwards. The shadows are fine. On some of them I even let them stay darker. I liked the contrast. But, I could...
  22. Re: Does any scanner have a 3 exposure HDR scan option?

Let's assume you can get more shadow details slowing down one of two scans. How do you line up the two passes afterwards if the stepper doesn;t allow that?
  23. Re: Does any scanner have a 3 exposure HDR scan option?

The proof is in the pudding. I've asked people to show their multi scan shots. (edited: None) have that showed any difference. I also checked a couple people posted with both the straight scan and...
  24. Re: Does any scanner have a 3 exposure HDR scan option?

  26. Re: Does any scanner have a 3 exposure HDR scan option?

Scan once. Use the shadow adjustment on your post processing program. It works faster and is better. You can;t get more out of a scan than the scan will give you on one scan. The scanner is using...

  28. Re: Negative vs. Transparency - Pros and Cons | What's Your Favorite Type?

I've bracketed Portra which is a pretty flat negative film compared to Ektar. While I think you can use all, what I found was that colors shifted when over and under exposed even +1 and -1.

Here's a picture I took of a guy painting at Monument Valley. You can see how he squished in the monuments in the background which were much further apart in reality. You painters are lucky. :)

Re: Retain highlights with Tmax 100

Curious about the Density ratings on the left and scanners. Does the 3.0 mean that any scanner with a dMax of at least 3, would be able to capture the dark areas on the negative?
