Re: Lens element sources and specs?

For those of you wanting to get into DIY optics, a contemporary photographer you may want to check out is Susan Burnstine. I've been reading this thread as it's progressed, but hadn't remembered her...
  2. Re: Article on digitalizing film with a digital camera, including color negatives

Hmm, I'm not very interested in scanning my film that way, but I am intrigued by his comment that True Vue Museum glass prevents newton rings. If this is true for enlargers as well, it would be a...

just read that thread of yours, nice work! could any of these be mounted on a LF camera for close focusing without needing lots of bellows length, thus allowing for faster captures?

Re: New Bergger Print Film Question?

Most developers can be used to create any contrast you want. the way film processing works is that the exposure sets where your least exposed area is, and the amount of time you develop it for places...
  6. Re: LED enlarger head questions, elgatosuizo's design

Excellent! I’ve finalized the parts list for the enlarger I’m building, and just this evening got back the last quote I was waiting on, so I’m almost ready to build mine as well. It’s pretty amazing...
  7. Re: LED enlarger head questions, elgatosuizo's design

I was thinking that may work, but I believe the power would fluctuate too much, which could make timing inconsistent or even damage the arduino.

    Re: New Autofocus 4x5"

It would be cool if there were electric contacts on the lens board, somewhat like DX coding on 35mm canisters, for the camera to know what the focal length is and automatically adjust its AF...

  10. Re: Best Way to Send the Most Accurate Copies of Fine Prints to Publishers?

Expanding on the second point about self publishing.

Self publishing is very difficult and can be very expensive, but is sadly the only way to publish photo books these days. I'm currently...
  11. Re: Anybody used condenser lenses to build a taking lens?

My understanding is that the first lens straightens the rays, and then the second lens condenses them onto the enlarging lens. If the light passing through the negative were parallel, you would only...

Re: How Did We Come To LF?

In high school I took a photography class where we were taught on 35mm cameras. In my senior year we were given the project of experimenting with something new. The school had a few medium format...

  14. Re: LED enlarger head questions, elgatosuizo's design

Thinking about my voltage converter idea, I'm guessing it wouldn't actually work since the output would probably fluctuate too much and could cause inconsistencies. However, looking at Mouser, I see...
  15. Re: LED enlarger head questions, elgatosuizo's design

A foot switch should be very easy to add to the controller. You could wire another switch to the arduino and have both pins activate the same timer loop. Or, maybe simpler, set the switch circuit to...

Re: Harrison vs Wanderer 8x10 Dark Cloth

I didn't get the snaps. I don't think they're needed for 8x10, maybe more so for smaller cameras when there is more slack in the cloth

Are you sure it was a dagor? All dagors are 6 element double anastigmat style (same as plasmat) to my knowledge. Dagor is an abbreviation of "Doppel Anastigmat GOeRz" I believe.
