  1. Re: How many film holders do you bring for a day out?

    hi Niels

I hate to say this because it really doesn't help you much ... but "it depends"
it depends on the camera I am using (some don't take holders but the media is inside them )
    if it is a...

Re: Help replacing the handle on a Graflex SLR

I braided / tied a lanyard it into the holes that were left from the removed strap ends. I did it in the 90s and it's still working fine. I did the same thing with my Delmar......

    Hi Bernice

I can't say that I have been influenced by AA / F64——not a fan of their aesthetic, and decades later after seeing some of their work in person at the MFA in Boston 7-10 years ago, my...

Re: XTOL not mixing well and not working any more!

We can agree about that, it's not at all what photography is about, but I find graphs and charts ( like gear and advertising ) a distraction, and potentially misleading.

Re: XTOL not mixing well and not working any more!

Michael, I am aware of what charts and curves are and what they do, I find them to be misleading, like a TicTok cooking video.

Re: XTOL not mixing well and not working any more!

I think the graphs seem like those produced using an industrial lab, the same way iso of films are determined. I've never gotten "box speed" out of any film I have used ( I don't think the saint did...

You can post all the charts you want, it doesn't change someone's personal experience with the developer. Maybe for whomever took the time and plotted out the curves on the chart
    that...

Re: XTOL not mixing well and not working any more!

Problems have been endemic with Xtol since the 1990s when it was first sold. I used gallons and gallons of it off-and-on* since it was introduced for IDK 5 years and I'll never use it again.

  12. Re: Going to Yosemite but can't take my 4x5 or 8x10. What to do?

Just bring any camera, the best camera is what you have with you. I wouldn't waste any money on renting cameras you might not be familiar with. Any 35mm will give you perfectly good photographs.
