    Re: 300mm lens 4x5" landscape

I have a 300mm chrome barrel Schneider f4.5 Xenar, I like it a lot. Also the 300mm f6.3 barrel Kodak Commercial Ektar. The Xenar is forward mounted so it integrates with the Norma Shutter. It's...
  2. Re: Long Process Lenses for Landscape? 24" RDA? APO-Nikkor 610/9?

Sinar Norma sold Apo Ronars in the Norma catalog, I have a fairly complete set and I like them. Thirty years ago I used the 240mm f9 a lot for landscape 4x5 shooting even in mountainous areas. ...

    Re: 450 mm Nikkor-M vs. Symmar-S 480 mm

I have only bought Norma Shutters with cables. If they don't work that is a bargaining point regarding price. $300-$350 with/without shipping is where I am comfortable.

    The later DB's don't...

    Re: 450 mm Nikkor-M vs. Symmar-S 480 mm

The local pro shop had one recently, and I found a couple over in Europe. They pop up. Do you want a Norma one, or the later black ones that matches your P? I prefer the Norma ones myself

    Re: 450 mm Nikkor-M vs. Symmar-S 480 mm

I've never seen in person a 480mm Symmar-S. They are uber expensive and weigh like a boat anchor. I paid $200 for my 480 Apo Ronar and they are plentiful and sometimes priced in this range. I do...

  27. Re: No dumb questions here...What have I purchased?

Yes use the green f/stop scale for 265mm rear cell only. BTW an orange filter in front of the shutter will improve and refine optical transmission through the rear group
  28. Re: No dumb questions here...What have I purchased?

Since the front and rear standards are roughly the same dimension, I'd guess 4x5 150mm is a 4x5 lens

I also have the 300mm f6.3 barrel Commercial Ektar and a barrel 300mm f4.5 Xenar. Good on 5x7 but a bit short for my taste for closer 8x10 portraiture. Back when I was doing some of this I...
